Hawaii Science and Technology museum
Research & Development
The Hawaii Science and Technology Museum invests heavily in R&D to look for ways to expand the Hawaii Island economy and create a STEM Workforce Development Pipeline. HSTM also supports research projects to give students hands-on experience in using the scientific method to develop hypotheses, conduct experiments, reach conclusions based on the data collected and present their findings to the public.
Community Support
Hawaii Science and Technology Museum has been very active with our STEM industry partners during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing locally manufactured PPE solutions for our local health care workers and first responders including face shields, hand sanitizing stations, air quality monitors and training, and UVC irradiators pictured below to increase the lifespan of N95 respirators through safe re-usage. HSTM has also provided access to online science STEM education platforms to support educators in the switch to online instruction, with 85 teachers across the island currently enrolled in our program, serving over 5000 students in our community.
